3rd League Meet
Boys and Girls Teams Rout Serra!
This is the way to do it! Hold out an athlete or two to train and recover and let the younger athletes step up and cover the course for the team. That's just what juniors Dan Cunningham and Ben Phillips did for the boys, and freshman Ann Kelly did for the girls along with her entire supporting cast. Both teams dismantled the Serra varsity squads for a decisive win. Be sure to check out your results below (click for a full size PDF). Also included are the Cathedral Catholic results from two weeks ago.

2nd League Meet
Boys and Girls Teams Run Up Against Cathedral!
Both teams ran with a lot of heart and gave the Cathedral Dons a good race. Riess Haslam, together with Cathedral's top runner, towed the lead pack through the first mile at 5:00 flat and kept the heat on throughout the next two miles. Riess closed with a 5:07 last mile to smoke the field, winning in 15:41 for the 3.05 mile course. Dan Cunningham followed in 5th with a great PR of 16:26, keeping the race competitive from the start. In the girls race, a lead group of 15 runners roared through the first mile in 6:12 and kept pressing into the second mile. When the pack emerged from behind the velodrome and the dust began to clear, Jessy Hansen and Megan Gramlich had taken command of the race and would not relinquish their 1-2 hold on the lead. Both would stick close to the finish, carrying the torch (cowbell?) for UC. The Cathedral Dons roared back this day, filling in many key spots for a sound victory.

Vaquero Results and Pictures!
We had a great day at the Vaquero Invitational on Saturday with some super surprise showings from the some of our newest stars. It was a perfect showcase to let the legs roar after a long summer of many, many miles of running. Results are here, including the divisions two and three races which took place after we were done. Click the large photo of the lake to see results for each race. Click on our runners below that and you'll see Jennifer Haslam's great photos of the day. I am very encouraged with these results. Our team is strong, and we now know where we need to improve to take us up one more notch (or perhaps two!).
