Time to Change This Page to Winter Training!

In the next day or two, this website will switch over to the Winter Training site, because yes, it's that time of the year again, and we start a new season. In the meantime, check out the banquet pics below, and I've temporarily put up the winter training mileage sheet on the blue tabs on the left (I'd put up the Saturday Run Schedule too, but somehow I deleted it. Hmmmm. Stay tuned on that one).

Practice for Monday and Tuesday will be at the UC track at 8:30 a.m. We'll just be putting in some easy miles together as a team and using the time together to plan out our winter training schedule (and to start forging our dreams for the track season!). See you out there.

UC Travel Information:

We will be leaving immediately after school (or as close to it as possible) on Friday, December 5 and heading to the home of Steve and Tere Ross (my Mom) in Costa Mesa. Here we will do our necessary shake-out run, strides, and stretching.

Home of Steve and Tere Ross
2084 Flamingo Drive
Costa Mesa, CA 92626

Bring a sleeping bag and pillow and hit the floor for a great night's sleep you won't forget! Parents and coaches get the beds and bedrooms. Sorry, we earned it.

Click on the Footlocker logo at the top to see the official website for race times and entry information. We will have to get up pretty early to get to the meet on time (my mom lives 40 minutes from the course). Remember the "double secret" free parking area in the neighborhood behind the course.

We should be home between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

For dinner we will travel just over the river to Lamp Post Pizza, where I used to wash their windows 34 years ago! The pizza is fabulous, and we'll have a fun, relaxing evening before the races.

Good Luck!

Photos from UC vs. Cathedral

We had another great day in our big showdown against Cathedral Catholic last Tuesday. The list of PR's was huge! The boys team came away with a narrow victory, and Allen Siegler had to break the course record to secure the win for himself and the team! Ann Kelly ran the best race of her career, narrowly missing the course record by only 6 seconds. Check the results out on (click upper right logo). In the meantime, Michelle Atkins was there and took some great pictures. Check them out below.

Photos from UC vs. Serra

The UC Centurion Harriers had a great day against Serra yesterday, giving us a great opportunity to work on running as a team, as well as allowing us to rest several athletes that needed some recovery time. The scores will be posted in the next day or so. In the meantime, Michelle Atkins and Bailey Stone took some great pictures. Check them out below.

League Meet Results vs. La Jolla

The Western League season began last Tuesday with the UC Centurions opening up against our historic and cross town rival La Jolla in a classic dual meet. Our boys and girls showed them why we've been training like monsters, placing 7 out of the top 10 in each race for a solid victory. It was a great way to start the season. Not to be outdone, the boys JV squad (skw@hd?) beat all four schools in the final competition of the day. Check out the results and splits below. Use this information, along with some profound info from your coach, to determine what you should try to run against Serra this upcoming Tuesday. Also, enjoy the photos below submitted by Carys Erving.

Woodbridge Results HERE

Official results are not up on for the Woodbridge Invitational last week. We are in the Gold races. I'll have individualized and team results for Woodbridge up early next week, and then stored on the link at right. It was a GREAT night at the Orange County Great Park. The boys team, in the Rated Invitational race, ran the fastest team time (1-5 runners added up) in UC history! Remarkable, but only a stepping stone to our even bigger year-end goal.

Check Out This Headline from (Click on it for results). The UC boys and girls toed the line Saturday at the Bronco Roundup for the first time in UC history, competing head to head against the very best teams in the county at Kit Carson Park over the Bronco 2 mile layout. Placing 4 among the top 14, the UC boys came home with a fantastic victory and a great confidence booster heading into the big events on the near horizon: Woodbridge and the Stanford Invitational. Not to be outdone, the JV boys CLOBBERED the competition, winning with only 37 points, and signaling to the throngs of fans that UC is here to stay!

Woodbridge Invitational at the Irvine Great Park

It's a brand new location, but still the same fantastic cross country meet, the largest invitational in the nation! This should be a VERY exciting night, packed with lightning fast grade-level races and culminating in the running of the boys RATED race for us later in the evening. The course has changed again! Looking at the map, it's hard to figure it all out, but it looks super exciting. It just got unveiled tonight. Check out the information sheet below with some of our very best marks over the last 24 years. Your goals begin here. Also, PLEASE sign up for something to bring for the potluck dinner on the link below. Have a great week, and look for more information in the next few days!

Check This Out!

Chessa Adsit, one of our great alums who helped us win the 1998 and 2000 CIF Championships, is running tomorrow in the World Mountain Running Championships in Carrara, Italy representing the team from Canada. Each country sends a team of only three athletes, and Chessa qualified by finishing third in the Canadian National Championships (she married a Canadian, so she is a citizen now). Below is a quick "run" through the course as it winds its way up the mountain and through the marble quarries of Carrara. Spectacular. Check out the results after tomorrow's race.

The Cross Country Page is Here!

Click on the Bronco Invitational link on the right for the latest information. This is a new meet for us, so I don't have any race information other than what's on the Rancho Bernardo website. I put a link to that site on the Bronco page.

Vaquero Meet Information for Saturday

I haven't had time to radically change everything over to the cross country season yet, so for now, here is the meet information for this Saturday. Please meet us in front of the office at 6:10 a.m. Saturday morning. We will carpool to the meet, which is relatively close by. We do need parent drivers to transport the kids, so plan on participating in this wonderful event. Athletes: check out the sheet below as a guide to where you might fit in to the front end of these races. We have to set our goals high, don't we? Just remember that this weekend we are focusing on "PROCESS" and not "OUTCOME", which means you are thinking more about HOW you are going to get there, instead of WHERE you would like to, or need to finish. Enjoy.

This Video is Too Cool to Ignore!
Somehow I'm going to keep this video as a permanent inspiration for hard work, determination, and just down right coolness. Watch this over and over again like I do.
