To the Gliderport and Beyond!
It was great to see the kids back out doing what we do best: Our weekly 10 mile run to the UCSD Gliderport. It was a perfect day to run the perfect run. #lovethelongrun

We have only 3 athletes running at UCSD tomorrow, but it could be a barn-burner for all three of them! It's an 800 fiesta where each will test their true speed against some very talented collegiate runners. 20 athletes will be running at the Otay Ranch Mustang Relays tomorrow as well. Stay tuned for pics and results.

Mira Mesa/Scripps Ranch Entries
Our next big double dual meet is on deck: Scripps Ranch and Mira Mesa. Neither team is as strong as Point Loma or Cathedral, but we will be running against some formidable opponents nonetheless! The entries for tomorrow are below. I had to move a few of you around because we are limited to 10 athletes in the JV 1600, which moved a few of you to the 800 and/or the 3200. Get ready for some great racing. Remember that we need to get out a little harder than normal to carry the races faster. You're fit and ready, so go to it!

Cathedral Catholic/Point Loma Entries
Here are the entries for tomorrow's HUGE match up against our two biggest opponents in the Western League. There are several changes from what we discussed this afternoon because there were limits on how many athletes I could enter into each event. As a result, I had to cut some of you out of your second and/or third event(s). Good luck tomorrow. We will have a great day!

PR Night at Trabuco Hills!
Looks like it was another great night at the Trabuco Hills Invitational Distance Carnival. Check out your splits below and let's use this information to take the rest of the season by storm! It's April now, so as we crank up the volume a bit on the workout front, we must fine tune our racing and get that season goal you've been dreaming of.

Elise cracks the 11:00 barrier today for the first time on her near wire-to-wire victory at the Mt. Carmel Invitational in the Girls Invite 3200. It was a great day for our Centurion distance crew with some very nice, and well deserved PR's to get this season officially rolling (running?). Results will be up on Athletic.net in just a few hours. Stay tuned for some in-depth results and analysis coming soon. In the meantime, take a good look at the splits below. There's a lot to be learned from them, and a good indication of the work yet to be done! Happy Spring Break. Monday and Tuesday practice is at UC at 8:30 a.m. I'll see most of you there.

The Pictures Are Rolling In!
Here are some great sets of photos from Mike Boisvert at our recent meets. Please thank Mike, and get your camera out there at the next meet so we can add to our great photo gallery. Next up: We compete at Morse on Thursday for our first League Dual Meet. This is a big one and one of our most noteworthy rivals over the last three decades. We can win them both, but all hands will be on deck! Come on out to Morse and cheer on the Centurions as we renew this epic, historic rivalry.

Yes, it was a long day, but the exciting news is that our athletes are showing that they've learned how to race! Relays and lots of 800's are great teaching tools for every level of track athlete and this meet had no shortage of them. Most of the times and splits are shown below. You can find complete results HERE.

We open up the 2017 season tomorrow at Sweetwater High School, one of the powerful teams in the South Bay Metro Conference. This will be an exciting opener for us largely because we are untested and a little rusty, but we'll be full of run when we hit their relatively new oval. The meet begins at 3:00 p.m. Check out the entries here, below. If you did not pick up a uniform today in Coach McCarthy's office, stop by at lunch Thursday before we leave. All students are excused at 1:15 p.m. which is right after 5th period. Be great students and check in with your 6th period teachers and then check right back out and head to the bus. We will need a few drivers to take some of the kids because we may not all fit on the bus.

The Track Season is HERE! <----- click for Schedule
Ok, so it's been quite a while since I've put anything up on this site. The track season is beginning, so there will be literally miles of information to update almost daily. Since we're beginning a new season, this site will begin a new life, including a possible update in it's look this spring. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here are the intries for today's Blue vs. White intra-squad meet. The first event begins today at 10:30 a.m. Athletes should be at the track at 9:00 to help set up and begin early warm-ups. The meet should end around 12:30, concluding with a lunch for all of the athletes and volunteers. Thank you, everyone, for putting up with my website absence and for your continued help throughout the upcoming track season.

The Monday Long Runs have Begun!
It was a great day for a long run out to the Gliderport, and we had a good sized crew make it out there to begin the Monday Long Runs for 2017. An equally large group ran through the Eucalyptus Grove at UCSD to round out to 8 miles, so this team is clearly excited to prep for what will be an exciting track season. Congratulations on a great run through this Winter Training season so far. See below for this Saturday's run at San Elijo.
Saturday, January 14 at San Elijo: 8:00 a.m.
This Saturday, January 14, we're meeting at 8:00 a.m. at the Solana Beach Train Station (see directions to San Elijo Lagoon at left or click HERE). This is always a great run, rain or shine and a good time to boost your mileage up a notch to the 10 or 12 range.

Some Great Pictures From State
We had a great experience at the State Championships this past weekend. Alex Halter led the charge for UC, covering the 5k Woodward Park circuit in a great time of 16:18 to end his official UC season with a big PR on the state course. Alex finished 60th place in a very tough field of competitors, by definition, the very best in the state. The girls team, led by Elise Boisvert's 16th place finish, notched an 11th place team finish, 5 places better than last year and over a minute faster as a team. We're going places! And this team isn't finished yet. Check out the pics below by Mike Boisvert. Below that, you'll find some information about our upcoming trip to the Footlocker West Regional at Mt. SAC. Congratulations on a fantastic season!

Tough Heat at Western League Championships
On a hot, Santa Ana windy day, the UC harriers came away with some huge PR's at the Morley Field course on Thursday. Running in their last race of the season, the young up-and-coming stars of the JV boys and girls squads crushed their best times on the course. Leading a 1-2 finish in the girls JV race, Max Garcia and Madison Boland ran away from the competition and pulled their teammates to the front as 6 Centurions finished in the top 10. The boys JV were led by Adam Turken's strong 2nd place finish (out of 144 runners!). Check out the photos of our final dual meet competition at Morley two weeks ago. Race pictures from the Finals will be up here later this week. To the UC FAN CLUB: Thank you for a season full of fantastic support. The CIF county championships are next Saturday, November 19 with the boys racing first at 11:45 and the girls at 1:20. See you all there!

Bella Vista Bronco Invitational
We had a fantastic trip to Sacramento/Folsom with a very successful series of performances at the races on the EXTREMELY challenging Willow Hills Cross Country Course. Results are on Athletic.net and HERE. Below: Junior Elise Boisvert and Sophomore Izzy Shepherd, ahead of 250 runners, led the UC girls to a 2nd place finish!
More pictures and details of this great trip will be up soon!

Mike Boisvert's Camp Photos
There are over 700 of them, so spend some time and re-live the great week we had in the Sequoias preparing for the season. Also.... the information links on the right will become results links after the races are over. Currently they are posted through Stanford. Results are also posted on the Athletic.net site on the right.
Next up, we have a 4-Way meet at Morley Field on Thursday with Saints/OLP, La Jolla, and Serra (again), and on Friday we begin our great adventure to Sacramento/Folsom for the Bella Vista Bronco Invitational. The Bronco Itinerary is HERE.

Here are some great photos of the Bronco Round Up from last week. I'm a little behind and I apologize for that, so consider this a little bit of catch up. Also Click HERE for the Woodbridge results (they are also on Athletic.net to the right). Remember that we were in the GOLD division races. I'll have som e breakdowns with splits to you all on Tuesday.

Woodbridge Driving Information/Race Schedule
I'm sorry to get this information out late, but there have been quite a few changes in the last few days. Most of us will meet at UC at 11:30 a.m. in front of the gym for our drive up to the Silverlakes Sports Park in Norco (directions below). There are three groups listed below with meeting times in black above the group. We will still need to have most of the team go up early for set-up at this new location and possible race entry changes. Most importantly, we'll need to make sure everyone has a ride and minimize the logistical nightmare of everyone driving at a different time. The race schedule with our tentative entries is listed below.
We are ready to run fast and this is the place to do it. This is one of the most exciting invitational meets in the country and a great learning ground for all levels of competitors. Remember: Don't perseverate on the outcome; it's all about the process. Translation: Your coaches will give you a specific plan. Focus on just that plan: what you have to do during the race. Enjoy the process. See you tomorrow.

UP NEXT: Bronco Invitational and Parent's Meeting
Bronco Invitational Saturday
This Saturday is the next great race on our schedule. We are planning to meet at UC at 6:00 a.m. (ouch!) and leave very shortly after that. We'll need many parents to help drive, so please plan on supporting your athlete at this great race. Bring some post-race snacks and/or breakfast items, if you can, to enjoy immediately after the races. I'll have the gallons of Gatorade and Tang.
Parent's Meeting Wednesday September 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Expect to have all of your questions answered at this great evening. Please BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) and join us for this very important after-dinner information meeting. We'll have a few things, but if you can bring a dessert and drink to share, it'll be an awesome evening! (address: Omahen's, 5210 Cobb Place, SD 92122)
I hope to see all of you at the parents' meeting on Wednesday and then at the meet Saturday. It has been an awesome start to the season. Thank you all for your continued support.

Check out Mike Boisvert's awesome pics (395 of them!) of the Vaquero meet. What a great showing by all of the athletes. You can tell they're running well by looking at some of those faces of death coming into the finish. Thanks, Mike, for being an outstanding photographer and supporter of the team. I promise I'll get the camp pics up very soon!

Click on the image below for all the results from todays races. We had great results all around! Our team is developing into something special, so let's keep going full on into the current training plan as our school days begin. The results show a nice combined result for the girls (boys were unable to merge because of the different distances). Look where you finished and see who you raced with or near from our team. These races should give us a better idea of who we should be training with, or who we WANT to train with to jump up a notch or two. Congratulations on a great first day of racing. I will be switching over to the Cross Country tab (blue pages) in the next day or so, so stay tuned for that. See you all on Monday after school.

Mark Your Calendars
Our racing schedule now includes the Bella Vista Bronco Invitational in Folsom, California. This will be our full-team travel weekend, and I'm hoping that all of you can attend. The team club account will pay for all transportation, meals and lodging for parents that help drive the kids and the athletes. The meet is a very high caliber meet in the Sac-Joaquin section of California which includes all of the Sacramento area, one of the great legendary running communities in California history. Please plan to join us for this great weekend of racing and fun. If you haven't seen Sacramento lately, it has become a great city and we will include a visit to the State Capitol. We plan to drive up early Friday morning and return Saturday night (late) from October 14-15, 2016.
