Take the 56 Freeway to the 15 north and exit at Rancho Bernardo Road. Continue for a mile or so and turn left at Valle Verde, then turn into the parking area. The teams will meet here.

Blue Sky Preserve is one of the best areas to run in San Diego County. Beginning in Valle Verde Park, the run heads east for 1.5 miles on Rancho Bernardo Road to the entrance to the Preserve. Once in the preserve, the trail follows the tree-lined creek for a little less than a mile before turning to the right (south) and heading up the Lake Poway dam. Stay to the right (or you can go left if you choose) and climb the switchbacks up to the lake. At the trail fork, stay to the right, then head down into the lake parking lot. Continue through the parking lot and climb the dirt trail hill on the far side of the lake. The trail now skirts around the lake and heads back to the dam, reconnecting to the original trail at the bottom. Want more? How about a nice climb up to Lake Ramona?
