Camp Pics Are Rolling In

Check out the pictures of camp from the Bennett family below. Send me the link to your uploaded pics (Picasa, FlickR, Shutterfly, etc.) so I can put them on this site for everyone.

Running Camp Was Awesome!

Don't forget to send me the link to all of your pictures. This way we can share all of them with everybody. So, put them up on Picasa, FlickR, or any other favorite site, organizing them as best you can. Hurry! We want these up while the excitement is still in the air.

Summer Workouts/Training Posted

Summer Workouts & Info

Everything you could possibly need to be a great runner is located right here. It's a little bit of a mess at the moment, but I'm in the process of cleaning it up, so check back here often. You'll notice that the information on the page at left can also be found in the tabs at the far left of this page (and many future pages). It will all eventually need a permanent home, so test these tabs and let me know if it's convenient and user friendly. Lastly, USE this information to plan out your summer training. We are your coaches, but ultimately you determine the quality of runner you want to become.

Directions to Chargers Training Facility for Tomorrow

Click on the image at left to get a larger pdf file of the information for tomorrow morning. We will need to be there at 5:00 a.m., and it will take 10 to 15 minutes to get there, so plan ahead. Some of the kids may be meeting at the school very early in the morning, so try to contact Sophi Volk or Jessy Hansen.

I will be going straight to the Charger's facility, so I will meet you there.

Not sure who signed up to help? Click HERE to see if you are signed up.

If you didn't sign up but want to come, just show up!

Directions to Workout Locations Linked at Right

Click the links at right for directions and descriptions of the runs that we do throughout the summer. If you are in town, I hope to see you there. Call teammates for a ride if you have no way to get to these practice locations, or send me a message. I'll connect you with someone on the team.

Look for Workouts on the Site at Left

The boys' workouts for July are now posted on the page linked at left. Marco is doing a great job getting the boys rolling, so now it's my turn with the girls. Ladies, look for a more detailed plan this weekend. I will tell you that we must begin running together more regularly. So far it's been hit and miss, and I fear that many of you older veterans are not running the mileage required to fulfill our summer obligations. On paper doesn't mean much if we don't do it together. Remember: FARTHER and FASTER. Let's get our summer arrangements to allow us to train together for the month before camp. ALL OF US! That means we all run the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday runs together. This is the only way that our goals can be met. I hope to see you all on Monday morning (except Megan who is running the Coronado 5K)

Welcome Marco Anzures to the UC Coaching Staff

Marco is a great addition to the staff and will be working specifically with the boys. After a great high school career at St. Augustine HS here in San Diego (Marco still holds the Morley Field league course record at 14:58!), he went on to excel at UCLA where he matured into UCLA's top runner, finishing in the top ten in the PAC 10 conference, the toughest in the nation. After a year of training as a professional runner with McMillan Elite in Flagstaff Arizona, Marco returns to coach and continue to train as a professional runner under Coach Paul Greer, the San Diego State record holder and sub-4 minute miler (and yes, the same crazy adventurer that went with me to the top of Mont Blanc in 2008--great video coming soon.) Two great minds will remain focused on the same goals: CIF and State Championships.

Dale (left) and Mac (right)
Father and Son State Champions

For all you history nuts, click on the pics above for a great history of just about everything running and racing, including some epic pictures. This is a great archive that is updated periodically, so I will have a permanent link to it. Dale and Mac are on page 40. There are also some other great pictures of Dale in his running days, as well as current high school and collegians that you will all recognize. Check it out.
