Boys Win a Close One vs. Madison!

Girls and JV Teams Destroy

Despite losing some of most high-profile races of the day, the UC boys team squeaked by Madison today 71-65. A testament to the team's overall strength, our boys scored key points across all 16 events to keep the meet close. Our distance squad had some awesome PR's today which gave some of our younger athletes a chance to taste varsity victory. Check out the results on Athletic.net at right. Coming soon: Pictures and race splits. Stay tuned.

UC vs. Patrick Henry and LJCD

Here are some great photos of the meet from Michelle Atkins and Pam Kelly. We ran a little tired on Thursday after a tough week of workouts, but several performances shined nonetheless! Click on Athletic.net to the right for all meet results throughout the season.

Great Performances at the Irvine Invitational

It was a grand day for the entire track team yesterday at Irvine High School, distance runners, sprinters, jumpers and throwers alike, and after the final tally was in, the boys team finished third overall among some of the most powerful teams from all over Orange County. Results are on Athletic.net at right. Congratulations to Ann Kelly for being the overall champion in the Girls Frosh-Soph 1600. Check out some of the pics below for a quick recap. For all of you that ran in Irvine, I've included your splits during the race so you can take a good look at where you're running too fast/too slow, etc. I'll have more here soon!

This week we compete at home again on Thursday against Patrick Henry and La Jolla Country Day. This will be a very fast and loaded meet for the distance runners because both schools have some exceptional milers on their teams. Be ready to set new personal bests

Track Meet Tomorrow: Clairemont/Point Loma/LJCD

Tomorrow we are hosting our very first home track meet in the new stadium. Entries for tomorrow are below along with the entries for the Irvine Invitational on Saturday. Be prepared for a little rain on both days: Bring some extra warm clothes and snacks to eat after your race. The meet begins at 3:30 tomorrow, and unless you have commitments already scheduled, you are expected to stay and help out at the meet until the last event, around 6:00 p.m. Please help clean up when it's all over as well. Don't make the coaches pick up your messes.

We are looking forward to a wonderful competitive season, and I've never seen a more fit group of athletes after training hard all winter. Congratulations on a tremendous winter effort. Bring your egos to the track and let's show people what we've trained for!

Saturday at Irvine High School will be a VERY LONG day, beginning very early in the morning with the girls F-S 1600's and ending with the 3200's near or at 5:00 p.m. We will have an early crew leaving early to get the milers up there for their races, and then groups of athletes will come up throughout the day. If you are competing Saturday in a later race and have no ride up there or have no idea how you can get there, be sure to talk to me about it Thursday and Friday so we can arrange transportation. There will be parent drivers going up at various times of the day.
