Irvine Invitational Tomorrow!

It's been a wonderful winter of training and more training, and tomorrow we're off to the races. The season kicks off with our first big invitational at Irvine High School, one of the largest meets in Orange Country with many of the best athletes from the region. This will be a great test for us to showcase our current fitness as well as what's to come, and I know we are all very excited. Here is some information below

Irvine Invitational

Saturday at Irvine High School will be a VERY LONG day, beginning very early in the morning with the girls F-S 1600's and ending with the 3200's near or at 5:00 p.m. Our first wave of 1600 runners will meet at school at 5:10 a.m.!!! Yes, I said 5:10. Get some sleep tonight so we are rested and ready on Saturday. After the 1600 meter early crew, groups of athletes will come up throughout the day. If you are competing Saturday in a later race and have no ride up there or have no idea how you can get there, there is a departing crew at 9:00 a.m from the school gym. Good luck tomorrow!

17 On Today's 10 Mile Run!

Our biggest girls crew yet made it to the glider port this afternoon for their first ever 10 mile run! It was a spectacular day for a long run, and these boys and girls took advantage of the weather and the beautiful sea views to ramp their training up another notch.

Coronado 10K Information

This is a great event and has become our default team race to show off a little bit and test our fitness after a great season of winter training. I hope you are all planning to sign up to get out there, clean up the awards, and see what we can do. Register HERE or click the banner below for more information. My good friend who is part of the meet management staff has given us a team discount. Ask one of the coaches for the discount code (We don't want to put it up here for non team members to hijack). Parents are invited to use this discount code as well. Let's get a great group signed up ASAP.

Ok. Here It Is! The Winter Training Season Is Here.

Winter training has begun. A new and revised winter training schedule is attached below. Make SURE that you are following the weekly plan for the column that you have chosen. If you don't put in the work now, in the off-season, "I can't help you!" Don't be the one that missed out. The first four weeks (below in green) are CRITICAL to achieve our long term goals and to stay uninjured. The Saturday runs should be mandatory, because this is where greatness happens. Make this an important part of who you are as a runner. You will not run the same quality on your own. Let's do this together.

Remember these cool videos from last year? Check them out. They're very good. This first one above is our great DMR from Mt SAC 2009. Listen to the "not a great distance program" comment at the end.
